Hero Arts 2017 Catalog Release Blog Hop

Hello and welcome! Today I'm hopping with Hero Arts as they launch there big, beautiful new catalog in their online store! You should have made your way here by way of my sweet friend Heather Ruwe. If not, you may want to head back to the Hero Arts blog to begin at the very beginning.

Today I'm sharing a few cards I made when we were working on the catalog. Being the francophile that I am, it was love at first site when I saw the Ooh La La stamp set! In fact, I think that's exactly what I said, "Ooooh la laaaaa!".

I had fun watercoloring these fun images. I just stamped with Intense Black, and then used my Watercolor Dot Palette to do some fun, loose watercoloring. The touch of gray on the shirt for a little shadow helps to bring it to life.

Isn't this little poodle THE SWEETEST? I love it. That's why I had to add hearts! I stamped off with the heart stamp, to soften the look and to tie in well with the watercoloring.

Next is a card using the fabulous new Paper Layering Koi Fish die.

I love the texture and dimension you can get with this die! I only pictured the frame above, but there is a second die for creating all of the partial cuts. I cut it directly into my base paper, I didn't actually use that frame to cut it out. So he looks like he's coming right out of the paper. I colored with my Copics, and added some lily pads from the beautiful Color Layering Water Lilies set.

Next is a project I had fun with, once the catalog craziness was finished. I had picked up this canvas at the craft store, that was already pre-printed with text. I added a wash of Daniel Smith watercolor to it to start.

After it was dry, I added a gold embossed and watercolored Large Hydrangea. This is one of my favorite stamps in the new catalog. It's a big, beautiful woodblock stamp. And it has matching frame cuts, so it's easy to add dimension by die cutting the layers of the flower and stacking them up!

I added the "GIRLS ARE STRONG" message from one of my favorite stamp sets, Dare to Dream. I both stamped them lightly in the background, and also stamped and cut out the message on white paper, and glued it on.

And now it's time to hop!!

We will be giving away three $25 shopping sprees, drawn from comments left across all blogs in the hop. Please ask hoppers to comment by Tuesday, February 21st at 11:59pm PT and we'll announce the winner the following week.

February My Monthly Hero - Release + Giveaway!

Welcome to another My Monthly Hero release! You should have found me by way of Jessica's fabulous blog - if you didn't, head on back to the Hero Arts blog to start at the very beginning! There will be more info about today's blog hop and the prize up for grabs later in this post. But first, I want to show you the fun little project I made!!

To be honest, I was hit with a major creative block when I went to start making my project. My January was filled with travel - both fun and sad - and it kicked my butt. So I did a little searching around Pinterest for inspiration and found a bunch of ADORABLE cloud mobiles. I thought some of the dies in the kit would be perfect for making my own little cloud wall hanging!

I absolutely love the Nesting Clouds Infinity Dies that are an optional add-on to the kit. Clouds in many sizes - ooooh does this make me HAPPY! I used the largest die to cut out my clouds from white felt. I love the felt from Benzie Designs - super nice quality wool felt.

I also used the little raindrop-shaped die from the Raining Fluff Frame Cuts. I love the matching stamp set for these dies so much, it's adorable!! I'll be sharing more cards made with it very soon! And the heart was cut using the Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies, which were in the Valentine's release and are completely fabulous!

All of the pieces were stitched on my machine. I am not what you'd call a great seamstress, so it's all wonky and crooked - but that makes it homemade and sweet, am I right? :D I added a little stuffing to the cloud, and then strung it all together using the silver embroidery floss that's included in this month's kit.

Here's a look at the full kit! There's so much in here to love!

And all of the add-ons are fantastic, too! The little animals in Fun in the Rain??? ADORABLE!!

As I mentioned, I'm part of a great blog hop today. Please visit all of the links below, and leave comments as you go! Hero Arts is giving away a kit to one lucky commenter, drawn from the comments left on all of the blogs. You have until Sunday Feb 12 at 11:59pm to get your comments in. January My Monthly Hero - Release + Giveaway!

It's My Monthly Hero release day over at Hero Arts! And it's a really gorgeous one!

The little mason jar is my favorite, especially with the heart stamped onto it. I added a little glitter because everything's better with glitter.

The heart of roses is super gorgeous, too!

I love that if you color them green, they can also look like succulents!

I also love the little bouquet stamps. Being able to build your own bouquet, all wrapped in a paper, is so much fun!

The red ink in the kit is a nice, true red. I made these mini cards, all with stamps from the main kit.

Here's a peek at the full kit.

I also wanted to reflect on some of my favorite cards from 2016. I don't blog nearly as much as I'd like. Usually I'm here when there's something new being released at Hero Arts. One of my goals for 2017 is to get inky more often, just for fun! We'll see if that happens. But here's a look at some of my favorites from the past year. As you can see, 2016 was the year I loved watercoloring...!

Now off you go - here's the list of stampers and companies! Have fun!!

Hero Arts Valentine's Collection Release Blog Hop

Today I'm hopping with Hero Arts as they launch their 2017 Valentine's Collection on the Hero Arts website. The new collection consists of ten fun new products - stamps, dies and even a stencil! All of the products are linked at the bottom of this post if you'd like to check them out!

I made my card today with the adorable woodblock set called Love Tattoos.

I stamped the little heart tattoo image repeatedly on watercolor paper with VersaMark ink, then embossed in black. Then I quickly watercolored around the images. The message is a new woodblock stamp called Smitten, I think it's so cute!

And now it's time to hop! Be sure to visit all of the blogs below - Hero Arts will be giving away two $25 shopping sprees, drawn from comments left across all blogs in the hop.
